HM Health Solutions announces leadership changes to support continued growth of its Enterprise Health Solutions platform and customer base
PITTSBURGH (November 28, 2018) HM Health Solutions (HMHS) today announced that Michael Malec, a veteran of both the health care and information technology industries, has joined the company in the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). The company also announced that Gary Dick, who served as Senior Vice President, Infrastructure and Security for HM Health Solutions for the past five years, will assume the newly created role of Chief Information Officer for the company.
In the COO role, Malec will have end-to-end oversight of the consulting, engineering, and operations organizations. Malec will be responsible for strategic planning and operational excellence across the Enterprise Health Solutions platform.
In the CIO role, Dick will have end-to-end oversight of the infrastructure, security, enterprise applications, dental applications, and re-insurance application organizations.
"As HMHS continues to grow, we are evolving how we manage platform-related activities as well as our enterprise activities. The COO role brings several teams together under one leader, who will have end-to-end oversight of all platform-related work streams," commented Matt Ray, president of HM Health Solutions. "The CIO role will consolidate our enterprise technology functions under Gary's leadership. This new leadership structure will allow Gary and Mike to better align their unique areas of expertise and skills with growing customer service demands and organizational changes necessary to meet and exceed those expectations."
"I have been part of the health care industry for more than twenty-five years working directly for a Blue Cross Blue Shield Plan, consulting for multiple insurers, and the last nine years as Chief Administrative Officer for NASCO," added Malec. I am excited to work with the HMHS team to bring greater value to our customers and members."
"I'm looking forward to the additional challenges of helping operate the enterprise applications while supporting the every growing infrastructure and security needs of our hospitals and health plans," said Dick.
Malec joins HM Health Solutions from NASCO, a Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plan technology solutions provider, where he served as chief administrative officer and senior vice president. Mike has more than twenty-five years of experience in information technology between NASCO, Blue Cross Plans and payer organizations.
Dick joined HM Health Solutions in 2013 to assume the role of senior vice president, IT Infrastructure and Operations. Prior to that, he served as Vice President, Information Technology of Bayer Material Science, where he spent twenty-five years in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility.
